Agents Advocacy Coalition
The political wing of PIANY strengthens your association’s credibility as a serious political force in New York state elections.
Donor Profile
Q. What is your insurance origin story?
My aunt (Aunt Mary to those in the know) was head of the Communications Department for PIA when I was looking for a change from the service industry. She made the introduction to Anthony Kubera—who is a long-time supporter of PIA—and he gave my resume to Russell Bond. I started out as a customer service representative and eventually I worked my way into a producer role and now I'm privileged to lead an incredible team here in Jencap’s Buffalo office.
Q. What first sparked your interest in supporting the Agents Advocacy Coalition, and its causes?
I always say that if I could time travel, I would go back to school and major in political science. I love meeting with our legislators and informing them of the issues that impact their constituents. Being a part of the Agents Advocacy Coalition gives you a voice and seat at the table. Additionally, our industry is entering a period of rapid evolution. AI, consolidation, and external forces are changing the way we work, and it’s never been more important to be involved to help mold the future.
Q. In your opinion, what are the most important issues or policies that the Agents Advocacy Coalition is helping to support?
As a wholesale broker the excess lines reform is near and dear to my heart! However, the tort reform is the most impactful.
Q. If you could give one piece of advice to potential new donors considering supporting the AAC, what would it be?
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity! There's no better way to help effect the change you want for yourself, your clients, and colleagues! I recently had the opportunity to participate in District Office Visits to discuss the Executive Budget, which allowed me, and other PIANY representatives, to play a critical role in ensuring lawmakers understand how proposed policies impact independent agents and their clients.
Q. Lastly, can you give readers one book, movie, or show recommendation?
For a book, I would choose The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek; the movie would be Wolf of Wall Street (keep it clean folks) or The Pursuit of Happyness; and the TV show would be Breaking Bad.
