Q. What is your insurance origin story?

In 2009, I started as a scratch insurance agency with little-to-no direction. I only had the drive to succeed and learn the industry as quickly as possible. At that time, I joined the New Jersey Agency Network for market access and education. Shortly after that, I joined PIA of New Jersey. In 2011, I joined the New Jersey Young Insurance Professionals family, and I quickly fell in love with the industry. I knew I could make a change and be a part of something much bigger than my own agency.

Q. What first sparked your interest in supporting the New Jersey PIAPAC and its causes?

When I first started to learn—through NJYIP—about legislative actions and activities being spearheaded by PIANJ and the Legislative/Regulatory Committee, I felt it my duty to contribute to the efforts being put forth to protect both the insurance agents and consumers of insurance products alike. It is often felt that legislators do not know the true concepts of consumer protection around insurance, and it is our job to educate and support the state Legislature to make sure the legal system around insurance policy is working efficiently.

Q. In your opinion, what are the most important issues or policies the NJPIAPAC is helping to support?

In New Jersey, we have several important priorities such as monitoring the progression of e-bike legislation, as well as legal system abuse.

Q. If you could give one piece of advice to potential new donors considering supporting the NJPIAPAC, what would it be?

Whether you realize it or not, you have the ability to support and impact our legislative priorities and every issue we work on, allowing agents to keep working as we do. I also urge agents to get involved. I feel that industry associations and committees are vital to the growth of individual businesses.

Q. Lastly, can you give readers one book, movie, or show recommendation?

I am an avid reader, well listener of audiobooks, and one of my most recent favorites is Start with No by Jim Camp. No is the gateway to great negotiations, and allows us to continue to win, learn, and grow. I also am partial to my podcast, The Who You Work With Matters Podcast, by Aaron Levine.
