The meetings focused on the association’s 2023 legislative priorities, which include: a standardized definition of hurricane windstorm; eliminating the anti-arson form requirement for New York City; consumer protections in auto insurance underwriting; reforms to the New York State Insurance Fund; and scaffold law.

The PIANY members met with legislators throughout the day, including Senate Insurance Committee Chairperson Sen. Neil D. Breslin, D-44, Assembly Insurance Committee Chairperson Assemblyman David I. Weprin, D-24, as well as representatives from the office of Sen. Pamela Helming, R-54, and Sen. Jeremy A. Cooney, D-56.

“Meeting with state lawmakers and informing them of our legislative priorities helps PIANY advocate on behalf of our members and the insurance-buying public,” said Sidle. “PIANY appreciates these legislators who took the time to discuss these issues that are important to professional, independent insurance agents and their constituents.”
